Abstract:
The scope of this paper is to analyze a corpus of passages taken from a number of Plato's dialogues belonging to the vocabulary of 'presence' as well as the one of 'participation' aiming at an explanation of the causative role of êidos (section I and II). The paper argues that those vocabularies lack both in precision when they want to explain such a causative role (section III). Finally, it is maintained that both vocabularies have in common their own inability to define the causative role of êidos.
