Abstract:
Unlike the current interpretation of Vico's anticartesianism, the paper attemps to distinguish four arguments against cArtesian rationalism in Vico's early writings (1708-1712): against the concept of mathesis universalis, against the criterion of evidence, against the exclusion of humanities and against the political rationalism. Finally, the paper maintain that Vico will reject in Scienza Nuova (1725-1744) his early argument political rationalism.
